Terms of Service.

Last updated: May 12, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MIA website at trymia.app, the MIA mobile app, and the MIA pilot program (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is operated by MIA (“MIA,” “we,” or “us”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on the MIA mobile app or submit a pilot application. If you are submitting a pilot application, you must be authorized to act on behalf of your organization.

The MIA mobile app

The MIA mobile app, available on the Apple App Store, allows you to discover live events at participating organizations and listen to them in your preferred language with real-time translation. By creating an account in the app, you agree to:

Account creation

  • You may create a MIA account using Sign in with Google.
  • You are responsible for the security of your sign-in credentials and any activity on your MIA account.
  • You agree to provide accurate information during onboarding (your language, city, and interests).

Acceptable use

You agree to use the MIA app only for its intended purpose of real-time language access at events. You agree NOT to:

  • Use MIA to translate content you do not have the legal right to translate.
  • Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or extract source code from the Service.
  • Use the Service to harass, defame, or discriminate against any individual or group.
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any organization.
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service.

Translation accuracy

MIA produces real-time machine translations powered by current AI systems. While we work continuously to improve accuracy — including for specialized vocabulary in theological, civic, educational, and cultural contexts — translations may contain errors. The Service is provided as a tool to expand language access and is not a substitute for certified human interpretation in legally binding proceedings, medical settings, or other contexts where precise interpretation is required by law.

Account termination

  • You may delete your MIA account at any time via Settings → Delete Account in the mobile app. Upon confirmation, your account and associated data are immediately and permanently deleted.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where reasonably possible. Severe or repeated violations may result in permanent removal.

The pilot program

The Q2 2026 pilot is offered to a small number of selected organizations free of charge for the duration of the pilot. Participation is by invitation only and at our discretion. The pilot includes software access, hands-on onboarding, and direct support. In exchange, pilot partners agree to:

  • Use MIA at real, scheduled events (not staged demos).
  • Provide honest feedback on what works and what doesn't.
  • Allow us, with your written approval, to share what we learn together in case studies and product materials.

After the pilot, continued use of MIA may be offered under a separate commercial agreement. Pricing, availability, and terms of any post-pilot offering will be communicated in writing.

Content ownership

You retain all rights to the audio, transcripts, and translations generated by your use of MIA at your events. We do not claim ownership of your content. You grant us a limited license to process your content as needed to operate the Service. For details on what we do and do not retain, see our Privacy Policy.

Service availability

We aim to provide a reliable Service but we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We will notify pilot partners of planned maintenance where reasonably possible and respond promptly to live-event incidents.

App downtime, network interruptions, or third-party service outages (Google Sign-In, Deepgram, Anthropic) may occasionally prevent normal operation. We are not liable for losses arising from such interruptions.

Third-party services

The MIA mobile app integrates with several third-party services to deliver its core functionality, including authentication, speech recognition, AI translation, data storage, and app distribution. By using MIA, you also agree to be bound by the applicable terms of these third-party services. We are not responsible for the practices of third parties.

If you require specific information about our service providers for legal or compliance reasons, contact contact@trymia.app.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY OF MACHINE TRANSLATIONS, EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PROHIBITED BY APPLICABLE LAW.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MIA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100), WHICH YOU AGREE IS A REASONABLE ALLOCATION OF RISK GIVEN THAT THE MIA APP AND PILOT ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE DURING THE PILOT PERIOD.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MIA, its officers, contractors, and partners from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your infringement of any third-party right.

Termination

Either party may end participation in the pilot or use of the mobile app at any time, for any reason, with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your access to the Service will end and we will, on request or via your in-app Delete Account action, delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to their exclusive jurisdiction and venue.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to pilot partners directly and to mobile app users via in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
